Moss helps Lemontree’s swamped finance team

Before adopting Moss, processing credit card expenses was a headache for Lemontree. The headache of manual receipt and invoice processing was compounded by the limitations of conventional business cards, which caused significant delays in getting the correct financials out of the accounting system.

Transitioning to Moss allowed Lemontree to unify all its company spending on one platform, saving valuable time and improving operational efficiency.

The challenge

As an IT agency, Lemontree has a wide range of expenses across client projects, supplier payments, and employee reimbursements. Their previous setup relied on a disjointed mix of payment methods for transactions—credit cards for some, debit cards for others, and employee claim forms for out-of-pocket expenses.

With most of the spending concentrated on just three cards, reconciliation became a monumental task. Monthly expenditure processing was fraught with inefficiencies, with delays in processing of missing invoices often leading to inaccuracies in profit and loss statements.

Solution

By switching spend to Moss, Lemontree aimed to gain control and visibility over its spending. After a swift onboarding, the company was equipped to issue individual cards for specific projects, teams, and employees. This shift replaced their patchwork approach with a unified platform tailored to their diverse financial needs.

Lemontree can now allocate transactions to project- or vendor-specific cards, split transactions from different vendors over separate cards, and issue one-time cards for up-front employee expenses.

Moss’ integration with Twinfield tax and accounting software enables fast, accurate exports and a smoother month-end process. After switching to Exact Online in 2025 the integration between Moss and Lemontree’s tax and accounting software improved even further thanks to the direct integration between MOSS and Exact Online.

Results

Switching to Moss gave Lemontree’s finance team the visibility and control over expenses that they desperately needed. They now have improved oversight and drastically reduced admin.

Moss cards are now used for the majority of company spending and dedicated virtual supplier cards make it easy to control supplier spend and add default booking details necessary for Lemontree’s accounting.

Spend can be reviewed and approved by relevant managers or the finance team directly. Extra eyes on every transaction help ensure company funds only go where they’re needed, and custom card budgets protect against overspend.

The multitude of invoices and receipts is no longer an issue as everything is stored digitally in Moss. Every time an employee pays with their Moss card, they simply scan the receipt with their smartphone and upload it directly to Moss.

By unifying spend management, automating admin, and providing visibility across the board, Moss enables finance teams to focus on delivering real value to their business.
